Got the windows replaced and paid the balance. Insurance is supposed to be mailing me a $ 4k-ish check tomorrow, which we will put in savings for now. This home improvement has seemed to jump-start us to begin working on projects around the house again. We did so much remodeling for over a decade that we definitely got burned out and slowed down the last 3 years or so. But I guess we are ready to start picking at things again.

I am supposed to get the estimate for the foundation work next week. I am nervous and hoping it's a number we can afford. My mom is generously making a $500 monthly payment towards the HELOC, which will lessen the stress of another bill. If we agree to the price they are estimating a November start date.

In the last year we have paid $14k+ for a roof, $9k+ for windows, and bought a $19k+ new to us car. We are only down $12k in our savings which is honestly not bad for how many unexpected expenses we have had.

Husband is working a lot due to staffing shortages at work. He always works 6 days a week, but now he is having to work quite a few 12 hour days as well. Major bummer but at least it gives us some spare money. We have been spending it too. I forgot how many things you need when you are working on a house. We've bought two power tools and a new weed eater in the past two weeks alone. Plus a lot of smaller needed things like boards, insulation, screws, etc.

Having a house is a mixed blessing. It's great to own one and build equity, but it's a pain with upkeep. Glad you've had the money to fix stuff.
