A weird couple of months. Our "good" car broke again and had to be towed to the shop. At this point, we were about $4k into repairs. Luckily, this time the fix was the same problem and covered by the warranty. But we needed to upgrade to a larger car anyway with the 3rd kiddo on the way. So we sold my husband's car, which has been needing a lot of repairs and bought a new larger car. We paid off the land loan, but basically replaced it with a new small car loan. I didn't feel good about draining all our cash.

I did get accepted for a discount on some of my medical bills this year, and it has helped tremendously.

I finally got a reasonable-ish bid to replace our broken windows/siding that was damaged in a storm over a year ago. So we paid the deposit for that. That work should be completed next month and then insurance will finally give us the rest of our money and close out the claim so we can shop around for a new provider. Our EF is the lowest it has been in 2 years, which is a major bummer. But just going to keep trucking along.

We also submitted paperwork for a HELOC. We will finalize that next month. I'm nervous about taking on another loan, but we HAVE to do some foundational repairs that we've been putting off for a decade plus and I finally found a company willing to do it.

Ah I guess it must feel like a step forward and a step back somehow. Still, congrats on your larger car to accomodate your third kiddo. It’s still progress!
