Late Payment

October 8th, 2016 at 03:13 pm

Oh my goodness I made a mistake. My mortgage is due on the 10th, and I meant to pay it last night but forgot. When I logged in this morning to pay it, it said my payment was past due... Then I realized Monday is a holiday so my payment won't post until the 11th now. ARG!

I called the bank right away, and they said I was fine. My bank has a 10 day grace period, thank goodness. But I feel so dumb. I'm going to have to be more careful with Holidays in the future. I don't usually wait this close until the payment, but it's just the way paychecks fell. Yikes!

Mortgage is down to $46,355.72

It happens to all of us. I got a call my credit card payment was two months late! I don't use that card and have it on autopay. Somehow at some point, I had the auto payment transferred to my savings rather than my credit card. I was lucky they cleared it all up for me.

If you have a 'smart' phone, it's quick and easy to list all routine payments on the calendar, two business day in advance of due date as they mesh with pay days. You will get a notice of upcoming disbursements. Mwhile, enjoy the holiday weekend.ean

My mortgage has 15 day grace period, although I have it set on autopay.

Don't beat yourself up. It happens to all of us at one time or another. Glad there is a grace period and bet you won't forget for a long, long time! If you use a paper calendar, you could just put something on the calendar a few days before to remind yourself if you are worried.
