My List

September 20th, 2016 at 07:23 pm

Okay, I'm late but here is my list anyway.

1. I'm younger than 25.
2. I've been married for 4 years next month, started dating nearly 9 years ago.
3. My husband is the only person I dated and vice versa. Regardless of common stereotypes we have a very happy marriage, and do everything together. (Honestly in 9 years we have rarely/if ever fought about anything, and never raised voices.)
4. I have had 5 heart surgeries and 2 lung surgeries.
5. I have a pacemaker.
6. I have a rare lung disease called Plastic Bronchitis, which has a nearly 50% mortality rate.
7. I'm a web designer.
8. I love animals a LOT.
9. I always ask for power tools for holidays.
10. I love to build things.
11. I play a lot of video games.
12. I have a ridiculous attachment to my pets.
13. I really don't have any close friends.
14. I never clean my car.
15. I'm the world's cheapest traveler.
16. I don't own any makeup or jewelry except my wedding ring.
17. I don't really like kids.
18. I'm a worrier and a busybee.
19. I've never got anything but A's throughout school including college.
20. I was homeschooled 6th - 12th grade.

Here are some very random facts for you. Big Grin

You have done so well with all the health challenges you have had. Thanks for sharing your list. You are blessed to have a happy marriage with someone who cares for you as much as you do for him.

I think you have your head on straight. You take a lot of responsibility for someone your age. I have never heard of Plastic Bronchitis, but I hope advances in medicine will bring you relief and maybe even a cure. Smile

In the past year or so there has been a new surgery which has "cured" a few patients. I've been in contact with the doctors who are performing this. My family is pushing me to try it, but at this point I'm not willing to be the guinea pig just yet. I'll give it a few more years until they get the kinks worked out. I'm sick of surgery, and don't want to try again for a "maybe."

To #3 through 6, I say "Wow." How interesting that some people seem unable to find the right match, no matter how many people they date, while others make it seem easy. Would you say that you and spouse are very much alike in personality and temperament, or that you are opposites that complement each other?

I did not know about your medical issues. I'm so sorry you've had to go through that at such a young age. But what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

    Hugs.

PatientSaver neither of us really get angry. So we get along with people and each other easily. Besides that he has a very chill, and calm personality. He is a stop and smell the roses kind of guy. While I am a worrier, and stress out easily. I would say he keeps me grounded. As far as values, interests, etc, we are pretty alike.

I'm so glad you made one!

I hope all the medical issues have somewhat stabilized. And congrats to you and your husband. Young marriages can be so difficult, but you seem to have it together pretty well.

And I can relate to number 12. DH doesn't understand why I insist that they sleep in the bed even though it often means I wake up with cramped muscles or toss and turn. Their warmth comforts me...even if I'm not at all comfortable.

    Thanks for sharing!

I wonder if young marriages have a tendency to go to either extreme. Meaning, they can often be problematic, but if done right can mean a very strong marital foundation. I met my spouse at 18 and we'd both say that marriage is easy. I don't know how many people my age have so much invested in their relationship. Heck, we were together for 8 years before we had our first child. (After 8 years, you are pretty sure you want to do this AND you don't give up at the first little bump in the road).
