Payday & Desk

May 29th, 2015 at 02:07 pm

Well we got the top of the desk on yesterday! I'm sitting at it right now and love it!

Still have to cut, stain, and build the shelves underneath. And also the wall shelves above. But at least it is usable right now.

So happy with how it turned out so far.

Now I just need to get a rolling chair, a lamp, and possibly some sort of organization cubby, or something for paperwork.

And ugh. Look at my horrible floors. I wish the construction company would call me back with the quote to refinish them. I can't find anyone else who does it.

Payday today, I added $250 to my Roth IRA. Glad to see the goals still working their way up, even if it's slower. Still need $3,500 to finish my main 2015 goals. Which would be about $500 a month. Very doable, but I have a feeling the truck goal may get scratched for other more important things such as fence and flooring. We'll see.

Much Accomplished

May 26th, 2015 at 07:58 pm

Husband and I had a VERY productive weekend! Woohoo!

I got my desk top stained and put all the coats of poly on. We leveled and tightened the frame. It's all ready to go. Hoping to screw the top together this evening.

The boards are just resting on it in various places to dry. But I wanted to share the color.

We finally cleaned out the mud room and organized all our tools. We cleaned out the dining room which had been a horrible mess, and basically our construction room for the past 3 years.

We cleaned out and put back on the closet door under the stairs. The house had shifted, so the door no longer fit, and we had to cut and sand it down. This is where we put all our remodeling necessities, such as our paint brushes, paint, drywall tools, etc. That we still need and use frequently. But now all our company doesn't have to look at it!!!! I'm so excited.

We cleaned much of the house, and planted our flower beds. Also one of my best friends made a surprise visit for the first time in several years. We live far apart, so it was very spur of the moment, and we had less than 24 hours together. But it was great fun to catch up.

My last goat kid was born, and I got all the babies tattooed, and cleaned out the goat barn.

We got more work done this weekend than we have in a month. Hoping it continues!

Lots of Outgo

May 19th, 2015 at 01:51 pm

Whew! I have so many checks to mail today.

$540 for my two goats, and their transport. (3 checks)
$200 for my kitten deposit.
$119 for electric bill.
$45 for water bill.

Trash bill still hasn't arrived. I called them and they sent it out Friday, so it should be here anytime.

Have a meeting today for lunch, then I have to teach a class this evening at my old school. So I'm going to just have to hang around the city all day, because it's too far to drive. I will probably just go work at bosses house.

FINALLY stained half of my top of my desk. Hopefully I'll get the other half done tomorrow. I just want to get it done, so I can have my own workspace!

May 12th, 2015 at 05:05 pm

I am borrowing HouseHopeful's 5 things idea.

I think this is a great way to keep me motivated, and also tell myself I AM getting stuff done. Even if it is only 5 things. Setting a small goal like this can go a long way. I'm constantly stressed out and crazy busy. Hopefully this will help me prioritize things.

Settled

May 12th, 2015 at 02:27 pm

Got our settlement check.

Finished the goat fund, and added to the vacation and fence fund.

Have $500 for Juno's future treatments. That will relieve some stress.

Moving on up. Really hoping to add to the Roth IRA with my paycheck this week. It's been a while since I've contributed.

Mortgage Payment

May 8th, 2015 at 01:54 pm

Payment brings mortgage total down to $48,797.49.

Might get down to the $47k's this year, that would be sweet!

Can't wait until one day when I can make large lump payments, and the balance will drop more quickly.

Still hoping to refinance this year, and will probably change it to a 15 year loan rather than a 30.

Also put $100 into the vacation fund.

So it Begins

May 7th, 2015 at 05:41 pm

Got Juno's pre-treatment antibiotics and 3 months of heartworm prevention pills for $85. That is not included in the original $500 estimated cost for heartworm treatment. Ouch.

Paid the neighbor $85 to fertilize my hay field today. Well worth it. The land has set empty for 25 years, and it was really lacking. I only got 10 bales off an area last week where I've gotten nearly 100 in previous years.

Added $175 to my goat fund.

My $1,000 settlement check should be arriving any day. Currently planning on putting back $500 for Juno, $240 to top off my goat fund, and the rest will probably go towards my credit card or possibly the fence fund.

Scary News

May 4th, 2015 at 02:13 pm

Well I got the dogs shots. They ended up not being able to get the 3 year, since this is their first rabies shot, and they need the smaller dosage once to work as a booster.

Now for the bad news. Frown

Juno the one year old puppy tested positive for heartworms. I don't even know how that is possible. 6 months ago would have been winter, which means she must have caught it when she was a tiny little puppy.

The vet says it is going to cost a minimum of $500. But the main problem is that she needs to be kept calm and quiet for up to 6 weeks after treatment. Yeah right. If she even sees you she is jumping up and down, running in circles, barking, etc. Walking on a leash is no better. She does not hold still ever. Not for petting, not for brushing. She is a huge bundle of energy.

I have no idea how it is going to be possible to get her down. I'm guessing I will have to purchase a crate that is too short for her to jump. And she is probably going to have to be sedated for a month. Frown I'll talk to the vet about options.

So upset. We still have a $1,000 check coming soon. So I will be using that for vet bills, and either the fence or paying for the goats I reserved.

The gun is no longer a priority at this time.
