IRA Progress & Broken Window

January 31st, 2017 at 04:07 pm

I'm sending $500 to my IRA today!! Whoot!

Also paying $500 for 6 months of car insurance. Glad to have two bigger things taken care of.

Purchasing our front door today. Exciting!

I worked a lot this month, so I am hoping for a bigger check in the next week or two.

Good thing, because the dumb dog jumped up and busted one of our windows out on accident. Embarrassment Of course it was one of the few windows we were NOT going to replace. It was very fragile old glass and when her paw put pressure on it she punched right through. Thankfully she just got a small cut and is fine, so it could have been a lot worse.

Somebody dumped another stray cat off at our house. ARG. I'm hoping it will go to a neighbors, otherwise I'll have to find it a home or be stuck with it.

Yay on the IRA and paying the 6 months of car insurance! Hope your check is bigger since you worked more. Sorry about the window, but glad your puppy dog wasn't badly hurt.

You might need to put a sign on the lawn or something that you are not accepting cats. Don't you have a shelter in your area where people could bring them?

Fern I live in the very rural Midwest... Stray cats are everywhere, and the shelters are so full they don't accept cats anymore. In this area it isn't uncommon for farmers to have a dozen or more "barn cats." Most people just let them roam and don't feed them Frown So people drive by, see that I have a barn and some cats and they think, "Oh this person could use a few more barn cats." Grrrr. A sign wouldn't help unfortunately. I've been trying to ignore the cat for the last couple days hoping it would go back to where it came from. But it's very sweet and really hungry. My husband gave in last night and fed it. Ugh. Now it will never leave. I already added two strays to our family this year, and found homes for two more. I can't believe people are so rude to dump their problems on other people.

I love animals and have had cats all my life. But I agree, it's incredibly rude and insensitive to unload your responsibility and make it someone else's problem.

That being said, I am glad you will take care of them.

Here in CT there are various groups that will trap and spay feral cats and then, if they feel they are unadoptable, release them. This at least reduces the number of cats reproducing.
